Why Liberty Physical Therapy & Performance?

Dr. Nathan Prissel, PT, DPT,
CEO & Owner of Liberty Physical Therapy

let me help by painting a more clear picture for you...

Maybe you’ve said or thought these things:

“What do you mean you’re cash-based or out of network?”

“I wish they’d take my insurance for PT.”

OR

“Man, that seems pretty expensive.”

Don’t worry, these thoughts are quite common…you’re not alone.

However, the current healthcare landscape for active-adults and athletes is becoming quite harrowing. Unfortunately, insurance companies have continued to take a larger and larger slice of the pie, and as a result, clinics are forced to hire “cheaper labor” (brand new grads) or overload their current therapist’s workload. As a result, the quality of care that patients receive continues to decrease. Not to mention co-pays and deductibles are also at ALL-TIME HIGHS and continue to rise.

this isn't only bad for patients, but for therapists too!

Many PTs have seen the writing on the wall and are leaving their traditional insurance-based jobs in search for healthier and more sustainable work environments. And instead of just complaining about it, have pulled up their bootstraps and have determined to be PART OF THE SOLUTION.

We believe your body (in most cases) was designed to heal itself. We just need to help nurture a safe and healthy environment for it to do what it does best…HEAL.

Unfortunately, we are oftentimes fighting an uphill battle where most people and clinicians readily to adopt the “quick-fix” approach that includes pills, shots or surgery, never addressing the TRUE SOURCE of your pain. At Liberty Physical Therapy & Performance, we prove to you there’s a different & BETTER WAY.

Your path to true recovery and the healthiest version of your self is not paved with outdated methods like ice packs, stationary bikes, one-size-fits-all exercises or static stretching. This one-dimensional strategy is far too common in traditional, third-party-pay physical therapy practices – you’ll quickly see our treatment styles are quite different!

Liberty PT is a private-pay physical therapy & performance practice. With some helpful visuals, let’s challenge the traditional model and see why private-pay is ACTUALLY A BETTER route for you…not just for your body, but also your schedule and wallet!

CONCLUSION...

At the end of 6-months, Rob has spent $440 less than his buddy Chris. Although both men were recovering from similar injuries, Rob invests less than half of the time (12.5 vs. 30 hours) for a more thorough recovery that got him back to the lifestyle he loved…and he did it more quickly!

This outcome also doesn’t account for the intangibles around enjoying a dynamic, individualized care plan and a relationship built with a new-found professional friend, Dr. Nathan Prissel.

Which path will YOU CHOOSE to get back to peak performance?

I Want to Call My Insurance to See if I Have Any Out-Of-Network Benefits

When people hear that we’re “out-of-network” they usually want to call their insurance to see what benefits they have… as they should!

But we have some advice for you if you’re thinking this.

If you’re going to do some investigation regarding your PT benefits, you might as well get the FULL PICTURE.

People typically just ask… “Do I have any out-of-network benefits?”
If the answer is “no”, or “only after $X,XXX deductible is met”, they then immediately think, “well I guess I’ll stay in-network.

BUT… this person still has no clue how much the “in-network route” will cost them, or what the value comparison is.

So, please take advantage of the two checklists below to make sure you have all of the information you need to make the best decision for yourself. Knowledge is power, right?

WHAT TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE AGENT:

  • Do I have an in-network physical therapy deductible? If so, how much will I have to pay out-of-pocket before you will help cover my in-network PT costs?
  • What is my in-network co-pay?
  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much is it?
  • What is the easiest way to submit a self-claim?
  • Do I have any out-of-network benefits?

I Still Want to Call Around to Find a Place That Takes My Insurance

This is definitely a sensible thing to think about and want to do. We just want to make sure that you fully understand the difference in cost and quality care that you’ll be receiving.

Sometimes going in-network is just as expensive or more, and for a lesser experience and results.

So we highly encourage you to use the checklist below when calling around to get the facts straight about your PT options!

WHAT TO ASK A PHYSICAL THERAPY CLINIC:

  • How much 1-on-1 time will I get with the doctor of physical therapy each visit? (Here sessions average 50-70 minutes of 1:1 time with your doctor of PT.)
  • Will I have the same PT every session? (Here you will always have the same PT!)
  • How many visits per week are typically prescribed? (Here it’s hardly EVER more than once per week, and sometimes we are even able to spread sessions out over longer periods of time.)
  • How long is the average plan of care? (Here it averages 6-10 weeks but varies greatly depending on the specific case.)
  • Do your PTs specialize in the services I need? (Here we specialize in athletes, active adults, runners, and vestibular/vertigo disorders.)
  • Can you guarantee that I will never get a surprise bill? (Here we always guarantee that you will always know exactly what you are paying for and will never be surprised with a bill.)

After a multi level back fusion surgery 6 years ago, I began working with Nathan. At age 66 now, I continue to work with him seasonally with core strengthening, upper body strength and most importantly, balance. I appreciate his approach to my issues which is in full agreement with my surgeon. I’d highly recommend Nathan to anyone!

I came to Nathan with a very sore shoulder, one that would wake me up at night. My experience with Nathan was excellent! He is very knowledgeable and articulate. Nathan was able to communicate to me in layman’s terms what he believed the issue to be. He tailored the treatment program to my goals and prescribed a few stretching routines and exercises that eventually took care of the problem. I highly recommend Nathan!

Nathan helped me understand how to strengthen the muscles around a weak hip socket to better prepare myself for surgery. He was patient in educating me on the anatomical functions and gave me skills to work into my daily exercise routine. Tools for life!
